Uber has launched its own ride-sharing app for its own fleet of self-driving cars, and now it’s getting the public to take a ride with them.
The new app, UberEats, will let riders order food from an app and receive it in a bag, and the food will be delivered to their homes in the app.
UberEATS will be available for free starting on Tuesday, November 19th.
The service has been in beta for some time, but the app is only available to members of the public, meaning it’s not yet a fully-featured app.
That means, for now, it’ll only let users order food and pay for it with a credit card.
Uber says it plans to roll out the service to its existing members over the next two weeks, though it won’t be able to offer UberEAT to everyone at once.
“This new app is the result of more than a year of hard work by thousands of employees around the world, and it’s the culmination of a lot of hard-work by thousands more,” Uber wrote in a blog post.
“We’re thrilled to be able offer this new way for people to get their food while keeping the convenience of the app at their fingertips.”
Uber’s move to offer its own UberEat app for the first time came after a partnership between the company and a local food delivery company.
The two companies worked together to develop a delivery service called CarPizza that uses autonomous cars to deliver food to restaurants, cafes, and bars in New York City.
Uber’s app, however, will be the first app that will use a fleet of autonomous cars that will be controlled by the company.
Uber was able to get the green light from the city of New York, which approved the partnership.
Uber, however said it was “disappointed” with the city’s decision, and in a statement said it is “disrespectful of the people who have worked so hard to bring UberEates to market.”
The partnership will allow UberEaters to take their food to more restaurants and more places.
Uber said it plans on adding more restaurants in the coming months, and will be working with local food and delivery service CarPizzas to roll this out as well.
“For the first year, we will be sharing the delivery data with our partners to help them improve their delivery services and make UberEater even better,” Uber said.
“It’s a big win for everyone who uses UberEato, but especially for people who rely on delivery to get food.”
