Cadillac is the latest car company to unveil an EV with a price tag of $37,000.
However, the CTS V will come with a big advantage: It’s the first fully electric SUV to cost less than $35,000, according to Edmunds.com.
The CTS and the Cadillac ATS-S have both been offered with an all-electric version, the ATS (after the A), and the C, with a hybrid version in the works.
This means that when the Crossover comes out next month, buyers will be able to purchase the CCS-V for $37K, which is just $10K less than the new Tesla Model S. While there are still some limitations, like the lack of a roof, the price is a major step up from what’s been offered before.
For comparison, a 2018 Nissan LEAF with a base price of $34,995 is $26K more expensive than the CSPV.
However there are some other benefits as well, such as a higher-capacity battery pack, and the ability to choose between two different drive modes (autonomous and manual).
The CCS V will be available starting in the third quarter of 2018.
